The roots go back in time for today's Arrows Environmental Services, Inc. It was 1886 when Grandfather George Pickhardt founded one of the first pest control companies in the United States. Carrying on the family tradition, George's son Vern and his wife Johanna brought their specialized knowledge to Southwest Florida by establishing Arrow Exterminating.

The region grew and Arrow expanded too, adding landscape and lawn maintenance, interior plant leasing and maintenance, and a host of specialized services to keep home, office and outdoor living environments healthy.

While Arrow continued to thrive and take its place as an industry leader, Vern's son George attended college, earning a B.S. in entomology and a Master's degree in ornamental horticulture and completing Doctoral research at Cornell University. Returning to the Sarasota area in 1971, George put his scientific expertise to work for Arrow and became president of the family business in 1988.

The company has grown to include over 50 highly trained professionals who continue to build the firm's success on the same commitment to excellence, innovation and customer service that Grandfather George instilled in the family over 100 years ago.
