Termites Typical to Florida
Eastern Subterranean Termites – These termites make their home primarily in the soil. They tunnel through the ground, searching for decaying wood found in nature. If they can’t find that, they’ll look for other food sources like your home.
Formosan Termites - These termites also typically live in the soil and invade vulnerable entry points, such as the cracks in a house’s foundation. All termites can be confused with flying ants, but can be identified by their round waists and equal-length wings.
Drywood Termites - These termites do not need the soil to survive. Treatment for drywood differs from Subterraean termites and there is no preventative treatment. Drywood infest dry wood and occur in nature. They attack with an aerial infestation and often get in attic framing, door and window frames picture frames and can even get into the walls.
